one small christmas envy

kossai subscribe to wide variety of youtube channels to discover and poke around , and one channel upload advent calendar unboxes . one of these is expensive calendar of , specifically , little crystal ornaments for christmas trees .
and oh . that . that is one of few things which truly envy about christmas - decorations can be so beautiful . want to decorate everything in life with pretty little trinkets regardless , but seasonal and holiday decorations go just above and beyond sometimes .

which is kind of shame if do not care for holiday in question . >_>

Yeahhhh for understandable reasons a mass religious-and-cultural holiday like this will get so much artistic effort poured into it, and lovely ornamental work. But if you don't care for Christmas at all, well. All of that is just done to orthogonal ends from you.

That said, sometimes you can find folks making interesting work in the context of christmas art that is sufficiently disconnected from trees and santa and jesus that they're just nice. I recently bought a $10 embroidered ornament from an informal craft fair, of the constellation Draco on a nebula colored felt background. It takes some serious hunting to find them amidst the rest of it, but. Sometimes there are good pickings for the heathens.

yeah ... do not like to scrooge on people , but lots of common christmas iconography is disinterest to discomfort , honestly . still there is real beauty to some things , and can appreciate that craftsmanship for sure !

think ultimately would love to have some kind of winter holiday esque thing to decorate , but christmas iconography really is so pervasive to make that kind of hard ... for every generic snowflake or star is what feel like thousands of santa hats , candy canes , and jesuses . and red and green ornaments ... shudder . >_>
