thoughts about jumbles
Aug. 9th, 2024 02:51 pmjumbles in mainland dungeon seem to mostly be ship parts - but in fae realm , instead instruments and art pieces .
which think that could say lots about cultures , but then , again : why not reverence ? want there to be festival for this now . maybe will try figure out some kind of way for that to work in farmer kossai azoria . :P
( actual in game festivals . seem like just aesthetic dress and time limit shops . so not much feeling of culture even from that . )
OK . think about this again .
feel like portray jumbles as generic mine monsters probably because that seem to avoid problems like see in other games .
after all , in stardew valley , krobus is undeniably person ! but then farmer head into mines and kill dozens if not hundreds of mindless , characterless , shadow people .
or in games like oblivion , player can choose to be vampire , to act out as petty bandit , murder and pillage happily - all while nameless bandits and vampires exist just as roadblocks .
and even with animals , again , wolves and bears only exist to hunt player , not as part of larger world to look over and respect .
by contrast , object is not person with culture , nor is object animal with mind ! ethical dilemma done , over , great work .
but ...
what this really say about universe is , there is rampant magic . anything which can hold spirit , will - and these spirits can be vengeful , when face with people abandon .
these objects gain faces , learn how to use bodies in motion . tokkers bounce on springs , drecksions scuttle around on little feet , and so on .
is that not animal , at that point ? maybe even in some ways , person .
and again , imply sort of that these people would - not revere objects , not try to make new use and hold on when broken , out of both respect and out of genuine fear objects might strike back . but instead , would throw into these dungeons and only guarantee dangerous anger ?
azoria is literally animistic world - but presentation do not seem to encourage this .
