kossai: masculine form of kossai, cute wink (Default)

this show up in subscription feed today , and love to see stuff like this . as much as might also love granular , colour-coded organisation porn , that is just not how brain always work ! always good to see people talk about how these systems can fail , especially when people learn to tie organisation into aesthetics just for sake of aesthetics . might look very pretty to decant pantry contents and line up nice and neat , but how many people will find that actually usable and maintainable ?
kossai: masculine form of kossai, cute wink (Default)
since mind is on this topic now after clutterbug video ! actually take some advice directly from marie kondo , as that is what genuinely work for kossai , but with some adaptations . so ...

no stacks . none . there is no circumstance in which kossai should stack things on top of boxes , or boxes on top of boxes for that matter . of course , sometimes space is tight and this need to happen anyway , so low priority containers end up on bottoms of stacks - boxes that store some of old little toys , for example . in dreams , would be able to showcase whole collection front and centre , but that is just not realistic right here and now . just can not physically make use of stacks , everything must be single layer tall .

containers can nest one additional layer deep . like stacks , personally find nests can be hard to make use of , hence why only one layer deep . but box inside of box can be nice way to keep certain things separate together , especially in absence of fancy and often too-expensive dividers .

vertical papers and stickers . can not stand these things in flat boxes , especially as kossai have materials of various sizes - things always get lost in mix , no matter what . what really save life here is actually 3 ring binders with paper , photo , and card protector sheets - pockets of 3 different sizes . really tiny things still go inside of mini baggies grouped together , which then tuck into pocket , but this allow truly good view and access of everything .

... and places to throw shit regardless . not always in best shape to take care of things immediately , and that is something which have to admit and be honest about . can not always immediately put laundry away , or tuck new stickers into appropriate binder pockets . if designate places for these things to temporarily hang out , then at least not all over floor , or in way of other daily activities - and when ready to tackle each little pile , will only need to work from one place , not 5 .
