label thoughts
Mar. 27th, 2026 06:00 pmin one corner , kossai have faerie disregard for labels - every word is just that , word . words can change , words can be clunky and not capture all of nuance , words have expectations and boxes . in other corner , kossai have desire to collect niche little faerie-based microlabels both for fun of collection , and hope to make communication of key aspects easier .
problem is , of course , niche microlabels just by nature not very common or easily understood , so result is ... need to explain anyway . not to mention how many kinds of microlabels have sometimes extreme overlap with each other , and then even in private collection , feel like need to wonder what point is .
and yeah , that is thing - have private collection ! not because feel ashamed to collect or anything , just think better to keep local offline copy of this kind of thing because of how tumblr is impermanent . still , despite this collection with so much at fingertips ... never actually use any of these labels in public situations . probably most niche labels that use would be molly and holothere - molly is historical word , and holothere is more formality at this point , something which use to try and connect with communities , but over time feel push away from active identity by misuse , ignorance of non-animals who use label , and just general relationship with labels .
sometimes microlabels can prompt some sort of thought , like labels that centre around various kinds of word preference - when feel comfortable to self-label as X , but not for others to use that word in reference , or words that feel important to identity in some nebulous and unexplainable way ... that all can be useful to think about ! but words put to these feelings can also kind of restrict , especially if genuinely base identity on large hoard with many different puzzle pieces that all fit perfectly together , say , 3 years ago , but now not so much .
faeriehood is key factor in vast majority of these pieces , personally ... just no way to not be , feel love and lust as faeries do due to faeriehood , understand and experience age in somewhat nebulous way as faeries tend to , have animistic tendencies and connections , and so on . can not deny human surroundings have influences , and at times colour with biases that need to spend time on untangle , but still faerie at core . even so , still occasionally realise new angles of approach , untangle those biases and finally admit to aspects that suppress , or just revisit something that explore in past .
labels can prompt thoughts about these things , but then ... that is main use , personally - not to actually label , as that wind up too restrictive despite technical freedom of microlabels to literally do anything , just as tools to prompt thought . sometimes even come up with personal labels to try and get certain ideas across , and still never meaningfully use those , because some part or another end up too restrictive , turn thoughts and conversations into spaghetti that would be easier to talk about if just never try to label . ambiguity and wide reach is best friend sometimes .
