kossai: masculine form of kossai, cute wink (Default)
[personal profile] kossai
work on something since yesterday , disassembly of once-beloved shorts . would love to not do this ! but unfortunately most threadbare parts reach point that even patches would just damage more , thus waste time , resource , and personal energy . now , have sort of done this before , break down old unrepairable clothes to use for fabric , but never sit down with seam ripper to do so properly - just hack away pieces with scissors as necessary , all of seams and tags intact .

there is sort of twofold feeling here , animistic and sentimental . on animistic side , to not properly disassemble before hack up and reuse is to not give these items time to accept fate , which leave objects with all sorts of messy feelings . on sentimental side , lack of proper disassembly also mean that still see echoes of form as clothing , with all of memories and feelings that bring . some people might favour one or other , personally think both hold true .

with proper seam rip , still kind of feel aspects of hurt , but at least properly break down into original pieces - both kossai and objects in question have time to settle down and make final . seam ripper also give cleanest usability for sure , which is especially important on smaller garment like these shorts . think would be nice to at some point properly seam rip other salvaged pieces , feel like more proper send off .
