kossaisky start to run beta tests for presence feature , which kossai have access to - yay ! usually , one instance can hold up to 8 players , and there is no way for people to interact between instances , or even know of existence .
first upgrade there was aurora concert technology in 2022 , which since then see use in other areas like last city from season of two embers , and season of duets concert hall . concert technology change that instance interaction in simplistic way - still split between 8 player instances , but able to see players of every other instance as simple birdie forms . if really want , could then use teleport button to switch into another instance , so long as space available . this was really fun for original concert run , and still think very sweet there , as well as these more recent uses .
presence beta is step up from even that , as other player characters now have slightly more defined forms , complete with height differences - plus , while these models have very limited animations , can still see players' interactions and expressions with each other based on popups above heads . this is all really , really cool !
... just hope that this is not something that will become forever default . want to be able to choose to opt in and out of presence , in any place at any time , because still really love that quiet , personal feeling of sky from 5 years ago . as cool as stuff like concert hall is , some of best memories come from players who just sit down and perform for audience of 1 or 2 others .
