first fit name into 4 letters - so dipper and mabel end up dipr and mabl . meanwhile bill , stan , and ford all already work ! then simply convert each letter to number , with basis on position in alphabet .
dipr then become 4 9 16 18 , which convert to coordinates 04,09'N 16,18'E . technically some 5 to 8 letter names can work as well , but this is less consistent . mabel would be 13 1 2 5 12 , which is incomplete coordinate set - and dipper would be 4 9 14 14 5 18 , which is too many . so 4 letters is ideal ! :)
