wishful thoughts

kossaisomething would love see in open world games is like ... minigames , in specific ones that not stop flow of in game time .
something that happen now with oblivion is that , mages guild quests need several in game days of wait . this might not be problem if have plenty side quests to do , or even still main story ... but ... already done main story and fair amount of non-guild side quests . still definitely not all , but enough that feel bored - especially if need stay in area for quest , because chorrol side quest is not really any good when stuck in bruma .
but also dislike fast travel and wait functions - not think as if bad game design or something , but just , prefer feel like in world , not control world . whenever possible will walk places , and try avoid wait - either by find something to do , or at least go sleep somewhere .
so would be nice if have minigames could start up and play to then fill that time with something , silly as might be . want play hide and seek with villagers , have i spy competition with follower , play floor is lava with real mini bonuses as time get longer , have little scavenger hunt , maybe grab some kind of instrument to play along with tavern performance . ( or just mercilessly beat drum without rhyme or reason . player choice ! )
not need be mind blown fun just , something to do other than either press buttons in menu , or nothing at all . could also be opportunity for small worldbuild , maybe there is familiar sport here , or totally unique one .
of course , people will find ways to make minigames even without game design to support , just see achievement hunter videos like skyrim olympics and trick shot . but at some point , these minigame ideas will be hinder or outright not possible with current design of game - can not play hide and seek very well if no one have AI to hide or seek , floor is lava is possible but would be more fun if see little challenges come up during game . sometimes ideas can be hard to find without that kind of support build in .
