kossai media engagement policies
Oct. 19th, 2024 09:58 pmjust some personal thoughts , really - ways in which kossai try to approach media .
what kinds of media ? everything . books , shows , movies , online videos , games , music , anything which is creation that others share .
try to avoid words like consume in specific . can probably argue this is just pedantic , but , just never feel quite right . of course phrases like " read or watch or play or listen or whatever " extremely impractical , so understand why need multipurpose word , but usually prefer words like approach or engage over consume , unless talk about specific attitudes .
sometimes kossai engage with things as " popcorn " - something to use up time , without need for too much thought and effort , especially when energy or mood is too low for much more .
still , what is popcorn for kossai will not be for everyone else , and think important to acknowledge this - to understand that to someone else , this really is that deep . likewise , things which kossai find deep might be popcorn to others .
sometimes , proper reaction and comment is hard . still , even in short comments , really try to prioritise things that do not just joke . not all thoughts make to public , or even outside head , but try to think with more depth .
really when possible , want to try give anything which engage with , proper respect and kindness . real people make these things , after all .
that in mind , there is some media which do not want to give attention and engagement , unless have something to learn or to say about attitudes of creators .
that is to say , will not engage with harry potter media due to multiple hatreds of author - but , sometimes there is use in go back on texts and understand what make so bad . this can be true of any media , even most vile of propaganda .
dark and discomfort have purpose . sometimes when things hit too close , feel need to make jokes and laugh . but also think important for audience to not just make light - by jokes , or by glorify .
media which explicitly ask for this reaction of audience , kossai have mix of feelings about - all depend on subject matter , and how creators treat this . difference between trope deconstruction , and " satire " which is excuse just to bully .
kossai do have strong feelings about multiverse theories and explanations . that in mind , media is very rarely perfect reflection of those events and universes of origin . there can be discrepancy between multiversal realities , and story which creator share - influence by factors like choice of medium , target audience , creator experiences , shortfalls and biases of creator , and more . even different members of audience will at times see different highlights , due to different personal experiences .
as such , there is nothing wrong in examine both separately , or how these interactions change either aspect . but always have to remember , this is not good reason to push personal views and experiences ( as plural , alterhuman , or even just human singlet superfan ) as " only real version " .
hopefully that all make sense !

Yes ...
Date: Oct. 20th, 2024 06:51 am (UTC)Yes, if all else fails, you can always use it as a bad example! Or inspiration.
I wrote "Say It Loud" in direct response to The Boys. Because I felt very strongly that someone needed to say that, so I did. That doesn't mean I want The Boys to cease to exist. As a gender scholar and literary scholar, I find that kind of bad example very useful for critique purposes. However, I never watched another episode of that show. I do wish that people felt less entertained by that kind of appalling behavior, but it is in keeping with modern entertainment. I don't feel that being appalled by the show justifies trying to erase it, so I criticize instead of censoring. In my own space.
I own a copy of The Stuffed Owl too, and actually like a few of those "bad" poems. Tastes do vary, and that's okay. Remember, 90% of everything is crud, but good luck getting people to agree on which 90% that is.
