Date: Oct. 24th, 2024 10:17 pm (UTC)When I have that kind of encounter, it's not the comment itself or the person's disapproval that bothers me -- I don't care much what other people think. It's the reminder that I'm so far out of place and such a bad fit with the shithole dimension I'm stuck in. It makes me homesick. I'm only ever lonely when I'm around other people and they are the wrong people.
From the outside it might look like the reaction is out of proportion, but that's because people are looking at the wrong angle and not seeing either the real cause or the real upset. They think it's something else.
Human/fey interactions can be fraught and awkward.

Date: Oct. 24th, 2024 10:36 pm (UTC)yeah , exactly ! there is lots which like about life here , but , those reminders always hurt . sometimes fun when people correctly identify as " other " - but then , sometimes can just as much hurt , or both at once . really depend on contexts and reasons , and that ... can frustrate so much .
