fictionfolk language
Jan. 6th, 2025 01:11 pmcrosspost from tumblr .
kossai do largely talk about faerie experiences from very earth focus perspective , but there is population here " from " works of fiction - just tend not to come up in usual discussions , because these folks abide by sometimes very different rules from different origins . and just get to think , after someone bring up yesterday …
often those people here feel weird about fictive and fictionfolk language , like … in kossai experience and perspective , each such place is very much real , just not within bounds here .
" this person is this character from this piece of media " might technically establish , especially if character is popular with many iterations , but also feel unnatural and in some ways wrong - not as if pop out of page or screen in that exact way . there is always difference and nuance , lifetime and personality beyond depiction .
take for example character like tinker bell - would be helpful to know " what iteration " , maybe disney fairies IP , maybe J.M. barrie original , maybe some other adaptation … but even then , these can not say and teach everything , and will have to communicate at some point . when that is true , why not just communicate with no regard for iteration ?
is this relatable struggle ? do any words or frameworks make this easier to deal with ?
