online ~ lore thoughts

kossaiso never play elder scrolls online , but love to look around UESP . and just ... hm .
would imagine online is still fun game , but some of these lore bits and especially retcons just ... can understand why some people would reject lore wise .
take shivering isles for example .
flesh atronachs already exist for long , long time , both in series lore and in game depictions . but what was new , during shivering isles DLC , was specifically one to serve as gatekeeper of shivering isles fringe - to kill intruders and those who do not have blessing of sheogorath , also known as not mad enough .
relmyna pour blood , sweat , and tears - somewhat literally - into these creations , where most fail and die . relmyna regard and mourn each one like child , and finally figure out secret some years before greymarch of 3e 433 / 4e 1 .
online , as prequel game set in 2e 582 , say outright : no , relmyna did not do this first , which beg many many questions .
why would sheogorath not tell relmyna this secret if someone already figure out ?
if this information really was lost , who let that happen and why ? important because :
people recognise gatekeeper is extremely effective when compare to xedilian . if sheogorath already have gatekeeper once before , why then go back to reliance on xedilian ?
or , if there was some genuine problem with gatekeeper - say , because xedilian could kill or drive mad , but gatekeeper could only kill - then why would sheogorath allow relmyna ( or anyone ) to make more ?
questionable tidbits and retcons not exclusive to online , but think come off as especially egregious sometimes because of prequel status .
in live service games , whole model is that players need new things to do , neat things to do , maybe even some familiar things to do - get player retention and player money . but if familiar things only happen in future , then must have some explanation why here now - even if this erase accomplishments of those future characters and leave serious questions .
