morrowind mod ~ little touch

gone through first steps and some little side quests of immersive madness mod - this is very fun .
but there is one little touch , right on front page of this mod : seizures .

well . kossai is no stranger to seizures and post-ictal states ( weird situation in self ) , so need to know what this mean . between comments and posts , nothing seem to indicate photosensitive warning , so ... wary , decide would find out when find out . maybe this means there is some other character who seize - that could end up very tasteless in mod like this , but very tasteless is sort of risk with random mods and have to just accept that , unfortunately .

answer , as happen to be , is player seize . make visit to galbedir of mages guild , and tab out of screen to look for something on UESP , when realise that game music speed up dramatically . on tab back in , find that camera jitter around slightly , and vision slowly blink in and out of darkness . after some blinks , would be in slightly different spot - as if stumble around unaware .

and then , coincidence of coincidences : as kiliban return from seizure with horrible tired feelings , galbedir give greeting , as if to ask whether kiliban is OK .
... and something about this in kiliban make things feel better . sure , in real life would hope people do not label seizures as holy without at least medical assessment to find source - tumours do not joke - but in terms of kiliban ... these shivers might be holy after all , another of many gifts .

Oh, that's a delightful incorporation of seizures to the mod. For lack of a better word, it's not often that depictions of disability in games actually like. Become impactful or intrusive to the normative player experience. So like, having the player character experience a seizure through their umwelt (technical term meaning "(combined) sensory perception", here referring to the music and visuals from the player interface) is really cool, as is the NPC's coincidental reaction. The world proceeds normally, the seizures just Happen sometimes, and the NPC dialogue still reflects the understanding of the world. The seizures are part of that, and understood through the world.

yeah , absolutely ! abled people sure love worlds that do not have to address depth , and some disabled players prefer not to have to deal with real life inconveniences inside games , but yeah this is weirdly nice . much like real life , player do not choose this , either - there is no opt out or " overcome " as far as kossai understand , unless was to leave faction and delete mod . this is simply gift from sheogorath , and fellow worshippers will know as such .

did get 2 more now , and notice that music thing did not happen again - so not sure if this is random chance , or also coincidental . was not able to find any glitch reports like this , though , so jury is still out on that .
there seem to also be chance that some will drain fatigue , and others will refresh magicka - first one kossai get drain fatigue , other two refresh magicka . in that case , maybe different effects signal different outcomes ... unsure yet ! not really any public documentation on this mod , would have to dig into construction set files and player showcases .

sure is relatable to actual post-ictal states , though . sometimes get hit with massive fatigue , other times seem to frazzle everything and put in hyperdrive ... though for kossai this kind of is another expression of fatigue , despite seem like contradiction .
( in fairness , kossai seizures also very ... weird . like , defy medical definitions with no identifiable reason weird , ha . )

Yeah, it's neat the different ways minority folks will relate to, for lack of a better word, the downsides and inconveniences of their experience within media representation. I knew a Black trans girl who always played as a half-orc in Skyrim or a similar game because the racial discrimination included in the game setting was actually necessary friction for her to relate to her character and not like she was playing someone else, so to speak. If people were not passively frightened or suspicious of her in public, it didn't feel as real to her.
