music discovery

kossaihow do kossai find so much music ? well ... in order of use :
first would be keywords . youtube , bandcamp , soundcloud ... think soundcloud is worst for this , often find reuploads of music from other places , or total nonsense . maybe different keywords have better luck or something .
some keywords especially in relation to faeries pump out kiddie content , but there can be gems to find between mess . that in mind , kossai do not rely on youtube sidebar for recommendations - this often lead to pointless loops , or total nonsense . prefer stick to regular searches and filter up .
( this can also apply to really any site which allow upload of music , like platforms for royalty free assets - but good number of people make those available on youtube anyway . might not find worth time , unless specifically need to know royalty free . )
second would be media . look through listings of games , movies , or other media - especially fantasy ones - and try to track down OST . funnily , kossai not touch many of these media as result , only know for music - though this also double as look for OST of familiar media .
third would be look through compilations and playlists by other people , and other " word of mouth " recommendations . arethinn over on tumblr post 600-song playlist some time ago , so kossai comb through that and pick out favourites . definitely take some of work out to follow paths someone else travel ;D
edit : this also extend to youtubers who give credits to music sources during video essays and gameplay videos , but not all do , even if legal royalty-free use .
fourth would be music documentation sites like discogs , last fm , and deezer . these tend to link together similar artists , and can sometimes open eyes to unknown albums from familiar artists . not greatest interest in use these , mostly just visit to nab album arts when necessary .
fifth which not really use at all , would be plot and discovery sites like every noise and rabbit hole . these things probably pretty cool , but these in specific only show spotify artists , which is not helpful if really want total youtube randos . ( each one of those is different link ! )
