Mar. 2nd, 2025 01:29 amclassical , specifically . never really sure about this , but annoy with how this was all tangle mess , so !
choose to completely ignore actual albums of origin . usually much prefer to keep all album information intact , but this lead to unwieldy awful titles and messy metadata , and not all these files have any album or performer data at all .
instead use album field for either : different work names with multiple movements , score for particular dances ( like swan lake or the nutcracker ) , or standalone compositions with single movement - sort of like catch-all singles folder that other artists get .
if known , will still include performers in performer metadata field , just ... not as artist or album artist . would never remember how to look for things that way . this is why kossai prioritise accurate metadata on everything else , and why also throw some of that out for classical music specifically ...
that in mind , if someone drastically change things , like fairy lullaby arrangement of pachelbel's canon , will group that with artist of arrangement instead - in this case , single by fairy lullaby , composition by johann pachelbel .
setup could still probably stand to be better , but at least this is better than complete tangle . unfortunate how metadata tags just do not cover everything ever .
