context : in answer to post about adverse reaction to stainless steel dagger , given that stainless steel is iron alloy .
would also say , do not underestimate ability of personal power to change things .
why is iron troublesome to faeries ?
some would say , simply because humans give power - nothing about iron is inherently anti-faerie , iron is just what humans happen to rely on .
others would say , only specific forms of iron , with specific structure and creation - cold-work iron , for example .
others still would say , this specific metal is problem regardless of form .
( and , of course , some do not have trouble at all - not so relevant in this conversation , but good to remember these things . )
if iron is troublesome because humans give power , then what steps might help to take that power away ? what enchantment , or de-enchantment , would bathe in faerie power ? kossai like little bells and chimes as first step for this .
might even want to make " nest " of sorts . dirt might help to ground and draw out , for example , though would probably want to protectively wrap so to not get in crevices - or find something with lower risk . just be sure to make note of material/s , and find some way to discard that do not place back in faerie territory . ( vaguely wonder if use for compost could be appropriate . )
further would ask - did humans even give this specific object that power to start with ? or is this simply , almost something of " somatic " reaction , because associate name and feeling of iron with that power ? generally no harm in efforts to neutralise regardless , but good to think about and understand .
if iron is troublesome , but only in specific forms , then would this line up with that form ? if trouble is in wrought iron for example , well , other forms of iron might not do anything at all - and reaction again might be somatic .
if iron is troublesome regardless of name , structure , and creation , then yes , that is most complex to deal with . efforts like magnetisation as arethinn mention might help , maybe glove if skin contact is trouble in some way .
hopefully something of this was helpful too :)
