already story imply fern was autistic in original human lifetime , and this is why people hate so much , why no one question or give two shits when disappear . for quite literally centuries¹ only faeries give any sort of acceptance , and fern readily go to bat for this new , better family .

and elicia prove that people would still hate fern even if not changeling , even if really still just autistic human .

1. true ending reveal so so much and will not spoil much² , but important to know that fern disappear from human world at time of faeries make deal that would extend age of man , and other character dialogue say this age of man last nearly twice as long .
   no specific year is in game as far as remember , but kossai would place probably 2100s . that means age of man and age of fae should switch around after thousand or so years , which would give fern of birth year somewhere in 1100s or 1200s .
