kossai do not really feel shift is right word for experiences - faeriehood and traits thereof natural state , while things like language and social adaptations ... well , just that : adaptations to get through world that hold particular standards in these areas . 

while sometimes have experiences that others would name shifts , as in change of mental state , for kossai these experiences more so ... that those filters come down for some reason - maybe on purpose , maybe just run out of energy to maintain - and revert into more natural faeriehood . in these states , kossai can then recover from pressures of filters , and feel better connection with inner core .

therefore , think make sense to talk about and name these experiences in inverse too : that this unnatural state is human performance , and what lie at core is faerie nature . could also use this to talk about specific concepts and troubles : faerie social nature , human language performance , etc . theoretically could apply in any way , but may find overlap with phrases that already exist like work performance - might be good or bad , as depend on needs of conversation .

this might resonate more with fellow physical nonhumans than folks without physical or holotheric experiences - and obviously regardless of experience , if shifts already work fine to explain , that is great and no need to change . but maybe someone else have similar problems as kossai , and shift feel like inaccurate way to talk - that if anything , these experiences would be " human shift " , but even then have to specifically maintain state and follow set of rules … well , maybe idea of human performance framework is more fit .

I just call it "faking human" or "faking normal." At maximum effort, I can do it about three hours. Mostly I don't bother, since I can't hide my nature for long. Enough for an event like a wedding if I can just go, do the thing, and leave. Usually people want me to stay longer and then are unhappy with the results of their choices. That's why I prefer to avoid such things.

well , even language and words part of this for kossai , so not even have to deliberately fake humanity to still perform human aspects , if that make sense . even human sign languages have elements unnatural to kossai , let alone wirtten-spoken languages .
