kossaihave odd little dream and think maybe worth talk about plural angles on race , and tangentially why radqueer transrace is not great .
preface that in terms of human society , kossai is white as white can get - most of what say here is repeat of what understand from people of colour , along with lifetime of plural experience .
now , sometimes when kossai sleep , sleeper and dreamer will not match .
sometimes this is just " cosmetic " so to say , not actually mean anything at all .
sometimes , sleeper peek into dreams of others - after all , usually someone sleep somewhere , and everyone can dream .
then , sometimes this is on purpose - maybe dreamer pull in , dreamer ask to join , or sleeper choose to wander dreams of others .
other times , this is just happenstance - but because this happen in sleep , well , not really fully understand how this work .
in any case , part of what dream just now was member of kossai with dark skin , in front and control body . this person look after small wound , and feel discomfort at realisation of need to use white bandaid .
one thing to look at skin and know white , but feel like another uncomfortable confirmation to not even have bandaids which would match true personal appearance .
now , race in human standards is , not really typical faerie thing . as always maybe can find some if really go look , but , just not happen like that here .
people in kossai have all kind of skin colours and features - from earthly to very definitely faerie , can find brown tones with greens and purples , different noses , different hair types … so on .
think nothing is inherently wrong with discomfort and desire for inside and outside to match - that is one of most common plural experiences probably !
but think that to use labels of races is not always best , even in typically human collectives . for sure , sometimes shorthand can be useful , because person have traits which commonly this race have .
but race is really category of social experiences first - those traits just happen to be marker . sometimes someone will look different from same race peers and get lighter , better treatment - or heavier , worse treatment .
and this is where people can get really stuck - plural memories .
sometimes people will have memories of another time , this " life before plurality " so to say , whether this is dissociative brain creation , another real world , or whatever .
some collectives really do not want to discredit these memories . and can understand that , of course - memory is proof of self as something and someone different .
but also ... no matter how real these memories , there is still filter on what know and understand . this really is nature of front , even without some kind of complex body OS .
know that hurt some people to hear , but that is true . might understand some skill or knowledge very well when not in front , but can entirely lose when take control if collective do not share . memory is not all that different .
people like to think memories immutable - probably everyone like to think that , plural or not ! but more malleable than might think , especially in perspectives and reflections .
and this is true for pretty much any life experience in plural collectives : memories might be whole and accurately represent , but even if so , body and body OS will only have accurate account for certain perspectives .
this can change ability to understand and to articulate , and means likely will not have same perspective as someone who fit this category bodily .
someone here in kossai with dark skin and kinky hair might feel discomfort to front and see white skin and straight hair . and sometimes in private use like dream journal records , black or black features can be useful shorthand for this person .
but kossai do not have experience of anti black racism - and even that person individually do not , because faeries do not do things like that . so not really fit black as social category , and not really useful to call that way with other people . certainly would be horrendous to say " well , black headmate sign off on that ! into that radqueer tangent - this is why idea of transrace ( in radqueer sense ) is pretty bad . " racial traits " do not mean anything in isolation - just means to social system .
