observation
Feb. 24th, 2025 12:13 pmso with huge library of music , have feeling that certain musicians very formulaic - derek and brandon fiechter come at top of list , with ravnskjold just below . not that formula is entirely bad , but listen to these musicians enough to catch on with repetitions and patterns and just not always impress .
still enjoy and keep some around in library , but certain pieces just feel sort of ... nothing burger . new music by either of fiechters feel like rehash everything else before - and also now see machine gen album covers in place of promotion for actual artists - while ravnskjold just often feel ... slightly off .
well , fiechters make sense - this is years long job , with extremely frequent uploads for many of those years . there is no time to break barriers of formula , people want generic fantasy asian soundtrack #31235 now . both fiechters have some good music in backlogs , but new music can really struggle , especially when try to cover so many themes .
but as for ravnskjold ? recently find out ravnskjold once have reputation as ean grimm , who was apparently notable plagiarist of music . that might explain some things . unknown at this point of ravnskjold still plagiarise , or if music now is entirely original , but some songs can actually be hard to differentiate and identify .
think best way to describe is ... identity of this music can be very muddy . have to stuff in keywords , of course - celtic this , arabian that , so on .
fiechters dig selves into hole with such frequent uploads , build audience expectations that new music must come out every week or two - have to somehow come up with new keywords to smash together , ideas that will be just new enough to warrant existence , with any stereotypes and misconceptions necessary ... time to plug orientalism in music by farya faraji . music do not exist to communicate or be anything other than set of keywords .
meanwhile - two paths with ravnskjold . if ravnskjold still plagiarise , just perhaps less obviously than before , then what kossai hear is result of cobble together pieces into something presentable , but which lack identity for self . if not , then what kossai hear is possibly result of someone who can not do anything other than follow formula , unsure of how to make music with unique identity .
and that is all ... real shame .
... unsure yet what to do with ravnskjold music already in library , now that kossai know this . hm .
