frustration of discovery
May. 23rd, 2025 12:05 pmrecently come across song fairy by myaap , and here is frustration : so many comments only have cruel shit to say , some actually outrightly racist . and just , like ... why spend time to say cruel shit about 2 minute song that will never need to think about again ? and do these people know rage comments and dislikes actually boost performance , if really hate so much and want to stamp out ?
also like ... feel like those people only have surface level appreciation for music . must have this kind of lyricism , this kind of subject matter , or else worthless shit - see specks of this across lots of genres , but especially target rap and hip hop . not sure if women get worse than men , or just different kinds of shit , but regardless . even if given example happen to be objectively bad by standards of genre , this would still be ridiculous bias and cherry pick .
to be honest kossai do not really care if something is " objectively bad " if able to enjoy listen , or even just understand something more about someone else - and any kind of lyrics can potentially say lots about one's background and life . people complain about lyrics of sex , drugs , and violence , but all of this is real part of life for many people , in many ways .
and do think fun to listen to , and that this is shitty way to treat anyone . when look further into myaap , seem to work in regional subgenre specifically - this is not some " devolution " of all music , this is just different musical language . not everyone have to personally like any given song , but no reason to completely trash talk genres and artists .
internet is both great and horrible for exposure ... some people happy to open up to new ideas , others not so much .
