sheogorath was able to hide truth of jyggalag from citisens of shivering isles . this was pain of ciirta - one of very few mortals to ever fully witness and then survive greymarch , and now despise sheogorath for apparent abandonment of people . except , well , sheogorath was not sheogorath at this time - when jyggalag is present , sheogorath is not .
this is fairly obvious - if negative - plurality , to both audience and to those few characters with knowledge . one man with curse to exist as another , both stuck in cycle , force to devastate each other for all eternity . as jyggalag destroy sheogorath's realm , sheogorath weep and mourn - and as sheogorath rebuild yet again , jyggalag must fight harder to reclaim .

but perhaps this is not only plurality of sheogorath . each greymarch force sheogorath to rebuild lands , to mourn needless deaths of subjects , to pick up pieces and continue despite everything . then , as well , maybe sheogorath must rebuild self .
after each greymarch , there is another face within this multitude - this newest incarnation of sheogorath take control over life and duties , while prior faces serve as companions , guides , and sometimes adversaries . each face is another man - or perhaps woman , something in between , or something else entirely - yet sheogorath all same . these faces have distinct personalities and tendencies toward certain shades of madness , though often people find this hard to observe , or do not think worth observation .

abilities

one aspect which remain unknown to all but sheogorath , and those closest to this daedric prince , is ability of predecessors to then impose upon senses . while not present in physical reality , each one have ability to be seen , heard , and felt by sheogorath - and only sheogorath . conversations with thin air may in fact be conversation between current and prior faces of sheogorath , and reactions to nothing at all may be due to impositions of predecessors .

predecessors have no direct control over bodily actions of current sheogorath .

3rd era sheogorath

3e sheogorath was naive , and hope to befriend jyggalag . 3e decorate throneroom with nonsensical notes and drawings , and even insist haskill to set up party streamers ! jyggalag feel this to be grave insult , and obviously refuse .

7th era sheogorath

sheogorath who would be notable in attempt to ignore greymarch entirely , with hope jyggalag would also ignore and never come around . quite obviously , this did not work - 7e was quickest to succumb . overall , 7e was depressive , pessimistic , and dangerously non-confrontational .

9th era sheogorath

attempt to contain jyggalag through bondage and sensory deprivation - which did nothing but annoy . this sheogorath was very escapist , always look for some new way to burn mind away . even simple problems require elaborate solutions .

12th era sheogorath - sheo

13th era sheogorath - thaliendir

as 12th era in shivering isles come to close , greymarch approach once again - but 12th era sheogorath have plan for mortal champion to mantle . in process of mantle , thaliendir would take on this plurality and all prior faces . one aspect which complicate this for thaliendir is travel between realms - while sheo was able to help thaliendir at times , and choose to maintain relationship as lovers , thaliendir would also at times try to shut out sheogorathean nature in order to maintain mortal facade . this put strain on internal relationships between thaliendir and all faces of predecessors , sheo especially .

in mortal life , thaliendir always have interest in fight for freedoms - especially for those outcast as madmen - and would help martin septim in efforts to save tamriel from mehrunes dagon . still , thaliendir was hardly all serious business , and would play and laugh freely . thaliendir was also artist and musician of many stripes , with deep appreciation for all forms of beauty . lastly , wherever possible , thaliendir would appreciate discussion and diplomacy over violence .

as 13th era face of sheogorath , thaliendir is less prone to violence than some of predecessors - however , train of thought and sense of logic can be even more flighty , which result in unintentional injuries and fatalities . truthfully , thaliendir was responsible for such accidents even in mortal life - such as with mivryna arano , stablehand of cheydinhal's black waterside stables - but these become greater in number as thaliendir embrace life of sheogorath .
even so , 13th era sheogorath have great love for subjects , to point of which would destroy city for just one man . will fight fiercely to protect subjects , and do best to ensure safety in all measures , should another jyggalagge disaster somehow strike .
