dream journal ~ plural quirks and experiences

crosspost from tumblr .

on topic of dreams , one little plural quirk for kossai is that sometimes , will fall asleep and see dream of someone who is not front .
in absolute majority of cases , say , person A will fall asleep , and dream that brain tune into will be dream of person A . but for some reason , fairly rarely , will instead tune into dream of someone else .

so … can have " multiplayer dreams " also , where multiple people all participate and recall one particular dream - whether cofront before sleep or not - though brain only tune into one perspective . but this is not that - person A is not direct or intentional part of dream , in this case .

still not really sure how this work , and sort of hard to figure out because ... well ... literally asleep . unsure if person A still have separate dream from this , and brain just switch channels so to say , or if person A is actually in minecraft-style spectator mode , complete with ability to look through eyes .

there is third option , which is that front legitimately switch hands from A to B and back again during sleep . this feel weakest theory for kossai , though . with enough effort and plan , people here can weave dreams - that is to say , control settings , events , and characters of dreams . this is always someone who is not front , as dreamer lucidity is hard to maintain for fronter . yet there was at least one time in which tune into specifically dream weaver , and dream weaver experience no interruptions in ability to weave . so almost certainly not that !

dreamwidth addendum :
there is poll on original tumblr version of this post ... and since kossai can hold polls here for another 2 weeks ... dreamwidth get one too !

It seems like it!

We wanted to be able to vote "None of these". We haven't really remembered any of our dreams for about 2 years now, which is before I discovered we were plural. It feels like dreams we can remember are from the perspective of me and/or our body's old host (who is still a very active part of us). It does make me wonder if a lot of our dreams are dreams other members are having and I'm just not supposed to see them.

Ooh! Yeah we get those! I think for us, it's all woven dreams - if a dream involves a non-fronter headmate, I think they're just in front for the duration of that dream?

I can't remember any time where the fronter was in someone else's dream as an observer. And while we've certainly tried to learn lucid dreaming to see if that might make "multiplayer" dreams happen, we haven't gotten it yet and I don't think it's ever happened naturally either.

We only just started tracking our dreams again, and we don't remember most if we don't write it down, so it's totally possible we have had the other sorts of dreams and just forgot!

Something else- no self here directly appears in any dreams. It's almost always dreaming as a character in the dream narrative without any real continuity from waking selves- and in the rare case there is that continuity, the story of the dream tends to make it so irrelevant who's dreaming that it's not worth noticing. We are all the dreamer all at once and the dreamer is someone else entirely.

Oh yeah! I'd say about half our dreams are like that too
