hypnosis & plurality

hypnosis is funny here ... not sure how other plurals experience , but here in kossai ? trance is individual , not front-wide . that is to say , someone can be in very deep trance at front , but someone else can take over and immediately not seem to be in trance at all , with only slight bit of crossover fuzziness . and if that subject of trance switch back in , trance will return , though might need small re-deepener after crossover jostle .

which feel so weird , because would think that should be whole brain and carry between front , not individuals ! but no , can just switch in and out . almost like eira largely unaffect by these trances , or something . eira can still be affect by other things , and those persist between fronters - like word crashes , psychosis , and other involuntary things - but not chosen trances .

so infinitely curious about how others experience . like this can be very useful , so not exactly complain , but feel like this is weird . maybe will have to properly experiment sometime and see if someone can truly target eira for trance , and what would happen then .

Hypnosis is a thing that people do together. It's not like a drug, and it's not like an area effect spell either. It's a type of trancework that alters consciousness in constructive ways. It's good for modifying the reality inside your head.

So, whoever is choosing to do that trancework will be affected by it, and anyone who isn't will not.

This may vary with plural people, depending how closely connected their headmates are. But what you describe is what I'd expect.

Oooh we definitely wanna give our input. Before we do, a boundary check— are you ok with hearing about erotic hypnosis specifically?

So this took a hot minute just because we have so much to say, we know we'll have more to say later, and we've been wanting to make a whole ass post about this for some time anyway.

When we thought we were singular, receiving hypnosis was fairly straightforward. In an erotic hypnosis context. We/enyo would negotiate, have our own internal opt in, and fall into the trance along with the induction. We'd say enyo is indirectly suggestible; they benefit a lot from drawing on comparisons and analogies to things they've physically experienced. They respond well to language and imagery that already gives them a big feeling.

Once we unfolded as a system, things got interesting. Each of us three are a hypno top, individually and collectively. We also all hypno bottom (except Arini, who has wanted to but not gotten an opportunity). And Brick is much more directly suggestible than enyo is. He responds well to stories and back and forth dialogues. He is able to go into trance over chat or text. While enyo hasn't tried this as himself yet, we're pretty sure all of us can, if Brick can.

As a hypno bottom, there is a lot that Brick has been able to do. He latches onto direct suggestions very readily. That means he's been able to hook into trigger words for certain trance states, opt in when people who are within the scope of that negotiation reinforce it, *and* have enough discernment for the trigger word not to work in different contexts.

Arini and enyo are affected by his trance state in a few ways.

In the past, Arini has kept its distance from front during hypnosis, intending to avoid being tranced itself. Even now as it is wanting to have this happen to it, it does not want it Brick's way, because Brick is submissive in this state, and Arini is not interested in that at this time. It wants to be the one in charge, even when receiving hypnosis. However it has been able to, with the right planning, reinforce and amplify certain suggestions and experiences from the background. We Chameleons had a scene with a partner a few months ago. This partner did not program Brick's trigger word, but was aware of it and the effects. Arini and enyo typed the trigger word to Brick in discord, with the accompanying text formatting, and also looped the words in headspace. Also, we recalled the sensations that Brick felt too. This, combined with the external partner using certain language, props, and body mannerisms, pulled Brick into a very deep headspace through trance. (Brick note: not comfortable sharing what the specific trance state is here, right now, but I may post about it on our own blog with an access filter at some point.)

On the other hand, enyo almost always sticks close to front when Brick is receiving hypnosis, for a few reasons:
1. Experiencing what's happening through Brick feels good. It satisfies enyo's curiosity and desire to empathize in a way that feels safe. There is a "Brick filter" between enyo and what is happening. There are things enyo wishes he could do, and that Brick can do. This is a compromise that has worked.
2. For that reason, sometimes enyo can't really help being close to front for those times.
3. On some level, they are watching over Brick to make sure he doesn't push past his limits in the intensity of the moment. This has become less of a factor and will likely continue to decrease over time, as Brick gains more experience as himself. This isn't something any of us negotiated; our brain just did it, we figured out why, and just decided to roll with it.
4. If enyo is close enough to front + aware enough of himself, he can consciously imagine what Brick is being told to experience, and amplify it.

All of this has made erotic hypnosis much more intense for us individually and collectively. It has made us love that kink so much more. And, it allows us to exchange power in creative ways that we couldn't do as separate bodies.

There is a downside to this. Once, Brick was on the receiving end of a trance. The top used some language that Brick really enjoyed and wanted to lean into. But, he found himself feeling very distressed, and burst into tears. Knew it was enyo resisting the suggestion and that language and feeling deep distress about it. (Brick and enyo have different styles of submission, and different feelings/needs met through submission.) He told the top what was happening; the top immediately hit the brakes and told him to check with the others if they felt ok to continue. He did, and the others were not ok to continue. So the scene ended, we reflected on what happened, and we've been on and off perseverating on how to prevent that since. So yeah, the downside to the closeness is that there is spillage that can be unintended. We're figuring out how to mitigate that. One idea we've had so far is leaning on the induction and/or trance language to reinforce who the suggestions are aimed at. Like yes we know they're for Brick, and, built-in reminders might help to prevent something like that. Not just that; it might even help the others opt in to reinforce the suggestions that are for Brick, but that they don't want to be for them.
