when find confirmation that pines family is jewish , did also find confirmation that parents raise dipper and mabel unreligious . which , sure , OK - but how people react to this … like , oh yay no one can #callout for dipper and mabel christmas fanart !

do people think christmas come from nowhere ? do people think that any holiday other than christian holidays is some ultra religious , never could be secular , event ?
scratch that because know answer is yes but just can not compute how that work in minds of these people , while treat christmas as entirely religion neutral .
not to mention , more to judaism than holidays - such that even if raise dipper and mabel unreligious , if never even touch jewish holidays ... values ! values systems , and life lessons , things that would still colour how parents choose to raise and teach , and just ! augh ! even if grow up and continue to not explore or observe any religion , still more than just holidays .
not jewish , but want to fight on this hill . like if nothing else , at least do not use " unreligious " as gleeful reason to wipe over with christianity .

Date: Oct. 4th, 2024 09:21 pm (UTC)kossai is not much of reader in general , honestly ... can struggle to follow and understand at typical adult levels , which put in position of great frustration . usually better follow and understand books for children , but these lack in topics that actually want to read about . but people tend to take this entirely unseriously and say simply need to " try harder " like not already try ... :/
